PAPER RUN #1 2017

On Friday, 03/24/2017, I was involved with a team of engineers tasked to make business card paper grade from the paper machine in the department. I had no experience working with a paper machine and was a bit anxious to work on this project. However, this weakness also gave me the opportunity to learn from my resourceful team mates with lots of experience with commercial paper machines (I owe them pizza!!!!) from internships and co-ops. If you care to know, this is the oldest and largest paper machine available in all the paper science and engineering schools in the United States. This machine is installed in the basement of the department and used every other year for student projects. And so the team was made up of six undergraduate students, two graduate students and five operators who were directly involved in the paper run. The grade of paper we made for the run was a brown shade business card. The run was successful and lasted for five hours. I had lots of fun working with my team mates on this machine and lot of experience from this project too. I am eagerly looking forward to the next run on April 14, 2017. Attached are pictures of my teammates, professor for the course, operators and other stakeholders from the first run. Stay tuned for details from the next run!!!!!
